We’ve been to Buruanga, Aklan last May and attended the fiesta celebration 2009 where fireworks were first time seen on such grand show during eve of the fiesta.
Mayor Quezon Labindao with the help of his better half Connie “Inday” Dela Pena Labindao (also former Buruanga Mayor who happens to be my cousin) succeeded in making this year, 2009 the happiest celebration that Buruanganons ever had.
Many events highlighted the pre-fiesta celebration which included sports fest in different fields like basketball, tennis, volleyball, singing contest, dance contest and the most exciting for me which is kite flying (first ever event) contest in Buruanga. The kite flying was held in Japan Port, the first ever usable pier / port in Buruanga near Kalipayan.

Bands also helped lighten up the evening fiesta when 2 live bands battle it out alternately playing songs for disco and dancing. Ballroom special performance also helped make the night lively by a pair (sorry I forgot to ask the names).
Just a few suggestions though to help develop our place as a prime tourist destination, I just thought it would be good to launch a swimming race contest next year as Buruanga is a province with very long coastline.
Me (Sam Casuncad) and my father (Justin Casuncad) were able to capture the fireworks display highlights in a few seconds of fun in the sky. Please watch below a video uploaded in YouTube and if you are a Buruanganon, please leave your comments.
